It is really important that a newborn session is done within the first 10 days so that your baby is still tiny, still loves to sleep, and still likes to curl up. It is also important to allow me the opportunity to take the baby from you in order to create the poses, and to allow me the time to get your baby settled, warm, and calm. I will ask for help at times to get your baby into a position and for you to stay close by.
Please bring a diaper bag with diapers, wipes, and other diaper changing needs (changing pad, diaper cream, baby powder, etc.). Please try to have your baby fed just before you come, but also be prepared to feed your baby if needed (don't forget a burp cloth!). Your baby will spend the session time in a diaper, diaper cover or other similar accessory, or nude so there is no need to worry about outfit choices, unless there is something special you would like your newborn to wear.
1-Year Sessions: For the 1-year shots, we will do a glamour session of your one-year-old to start with. Have fun dressing up your baby in as many outfits as you'd like (that fit into our scheduled time slot) and bring as many props as you'd like (I will bring a few items as well)! Then we'll finish the session with some cake smash shots, so don't forget the cake, party hat, balloons, and WIPES!! This session should take about 1 hour.
Watch Me Grow Sessions: These photos can also be taken in my home if you would like, otherwise, we will do them outdoors at one location of your choice. I will have some props and accessories to use, but again, feel free to bring along any accessories or props you would like to use in your baby's photos. This session should take about 30-45 minutes.
Children's Mini Sessions (only when offered): These sessions will take place at one outdoor location, determined and announced by me. This will include a variety of shots in the location chosen. Please keep in mind that these sessions will be for children only. Session will last about 15-20 minutes.
{My Thoughts on Clothing}
Clothing choice is an important factor for the overall success of each photo shoot. I recommend choosing outfits that reflect who you are, are comfortable, and that help illustrate personality.
For babies and children, the more their outfit reflects their personality, the better. For mini sessions, if there are multiple children, coordinating (but not necessarily matching) outfits are recommended. You may want to avoid clothing and shoes with busy writing, logos, or characters that can be distracting. I would also suggest avoiding wearing a single, solid bright color. Multiple outfits are welcome for the 1-year session. Neutral shoes are best, or I really love the look of bare feet on babies and children!
In general, I love adding color, layers, and texture to outfits; a pop of color from a jacket, cardigan or sweater, a solid t-shirt under a button-up for boys, adding striped tights or leggings to a simple dress, or throwing on a hat, headband, belt, necklace, scarf, or tie is a great way to add fun and personality to your photos. Most importantly, wear what you like and what you are comfortable with!
